Hi,

As customers may be aware, mail3 is currently having performance issues. We have tracked this to an issue with the storage controller on this box.

In order to alleviate the issue and to get customer mails back up and running as quickly as possible, we are going to replace this box and restore customer accounts to this new box. Once the mail queue has settled on the old mail3 server, we will then be able to migrate existing customer data to the new server.

Hi,

The new server to replace MAIL3 has been installed into our datacenter and is currently having its OS installed.

We expect this process to take around 1 hour 20 minutes (with windows updates), we will then start config/install work (approx 1 hour).

After this we will run the helm restore tool on this machine and swap the IP's over meening new mail will work instantly.

The process of restoring old mailbox data will then start.

Hi,

Domains upto a have been created on the new server. Please note that data has not been restored yet as the old server is still processing its queue.

Please also note there may be a small period where mails are bounced while the accounts are being restored.

Most accounts have now been restored, there are a few which are using forwarders to mail domains that are restricted.

These are now being recreated now.

Hi,

We are currently working on restoring mail data and configuration on one of the alternate IP addresses of mail3.

We are hoping to have data beginning to restore by around 10:30.

Mail Data is restoring well.

We are having to use a method which uses IMAP to synchronise, however this is a slow process.

Mails for domains beginning with Z have been completed.

We are running two imports, one for domains a -> z, one for domains z -> a. These will stop as they converge, which should stop any duplication of mails.

Due to poor performance, we are changing the method used to restore messages and address books, we are doing the prep work now, and should be looking to begin resuming the restore at about 10:30.
